About ChatGPT Work
ChatGPT Work is the agent mode OpenAI began rolling out on 9 July 2026, designed to complete multi-step office tasks end to end — building spreadsheets, slide decks and documents by working across a user's connected applications rather than returning a chat response. It is the product into which OpenAI consolidated two previously separate efforts: the Atlas browser, which was deprecated as its browser-based agentic capabilities moved here, and the Codex desktop app, which merged into a unified ChatGPT desktop application offering three modes — conversational Chat, Work, and Codex.
